In a market where many brands carry decades of sonic tradition—sometimes as a strength, other times as a limitation—MoFi Electronics takes a different approach: total freedom of design. And that’s evident from the very first notes when listening to the SourcePoint 10.

What we find here is not a “textbook” speaker, but a design that seems to have been conceived with a single priority: to reproduce music convincingly, free from historical constraints or artificialities.

MoFi Electronics SourcePoint 10: Sound

A level of refinement that’s surprising for its price range. Right from the start, the mid-high range stands out—clearly above what’s typical at this price point. There’s finesse, airiness, and resolution, but without becoming harsh or overly analytical. It’s a high end that informs, but also seduces. The bass, meanwhile, is big and generous in extension, yet surprisingly controlled. There is no bloating or trace of lack of control: it extends with authority, but stops where it should. It’s a dry, fast, and perfectly defined bass—something especially evident in complex recordings. In jazz, for example, the double basses—often diffuse or somewhat muddled in other systems—come across here as clean, defined, and textured, maintaining both the articulation and the emotion of the performance.

Soundstage and Spatial Coherence

One of the most impressive aspects is the soundstage. Everything is in its place, with precise yet natural placement. Vocals and pianos are positioned in the center with an almost physical stability, without any shifting or artificiality. Furthermore, the SourcePoint 10 speakers possess a rare quality: they do not require a rigid listening position. The soundstage remains consistent even as you move around the room, making them particularly well-suited for real-world home environments, far removed from the pinpoint precision of a laboratory listening setup. Musicality and versatility. Perhaps one of their greatest strengths is their ability to handle all types of recordings with ease. From audiophile productions to more modest or older recordings, there’s always a sense that the speaker brings out the best in each one. These are neither critical nor harsh-sounding speakers. On the contrary: they invite you to listen to music for hours on end, without fatigue, thanks to a very well-achieved balance between smoothness and dynamics. Sound DNA: between the BBC and American muscle. There’s something familiar about their sound: they’re somewhat reminiscent of the musicality of classic BBC-style monitors, with that focus on timbre, vocals, and naturalness. But here a different nuance is added: more body, more extension, and more presence at the extremes—in a style that could be described as a nod to the American sound.

In that sense, they evoke—with some differences—the character of iconic models like the Wilson Audio WATT/Puppy in their heyday, though with a more accessible approach and, above all, at a very reasonable price. Construction: solid and well-built.

The enclosure exudes quality from the very first glance. The use of wood, structural reinforcements, and anti-resonance treatment are evidence of meticulous craftsmanship, typical of higher-end models. There’s no sense of a compromise product: the SourcePoint 10s are designed to be the definitive speaker in their category.

Regarding the treble, MoFi Electronics’ SourcePoint 10 employs a concept very similar to that of the classic Tannoy Dual Concentric: a tweeter mounted at the acoustic center of the mid-bass driver, forming a point source. However, although the general idea is similar, technically they are not exactly the same. Tannoy has been using its “Dual Concentric” architecture for decades, where the tweeter is typically loaded through a sort of horn or throat integrated into the woofer cone. That design aims for tremendous sensitivity, dynamics, and projection. It has a very recognizable character: big, lively, very immediate, and with enormous presence.

Andrew Jones takes a more modern approach with the SourcePoint 10, focusing on linearity and coherence. The tweeter is also centered on the woofer, but the cone’s profile acts more like a smooth waveguide than a classic Tannoy horn. This reduces certain diffraction and coloration and delivers a more uniform and neutral response. In fact, quite a few industry insiders have made that comparison because, visually and conceptually, they resemble Tannoys, but the sound takes a different path. Translated into sound: classic Tannoys tend to have more character, more physical presence, and a slightly more visceral quality. The SourcePoint 10s are cleaner, more balanced, and probably more forgiving with regard to listening rooms and recordings.

CONCLUSION AND FINAL OBSERVATIONS

The MoFi SourcePoint 10 speakers are, above all, designed to let you enjoy music without distractions. Balanced, refined, surprisingly forgiving, and with a very well-defined soundstage, they represent a mature and very well-executed design.

In a price range where compromises abound, here we find something rare: coherence, musicality, and a genuine commitment to high fidelity. A product that doesn’t try to impress in five minutes, but rather to win you over in the long run. And it succeeds.
